This improvisation class culminates in a public showcase, where you and your classmates will take to the stage without a host, trusting your instincts and shaping the show together. The showcase is the perfect chance to take on a personal challenge as you use the skills in your toolbox to work on longer-form sketches that will leave your audience hanging on your every word. In rehearsals leading up to the showcase, you’ll explore long-form improv in depth, from scene dynamics and story structure to character connection, vocal technique, physicality and a range of methods to drive narrative forward. You'll also continue with the improv exercises and games you've worked with previously, to ensure ensemble cohesion and playfulness. Yes, students on this course must have completed Improvisation Level 2 at City Academy or an equivalent course elsewhere. Yes – the course ends with a ticketed showcase where you perform a full long-form improv show to a live audience. 3 What is the focus of this course compared to Level 2?
