Advanced / Professional Ballet Course - 6 Months

Focused Professional Development

Six Months to Refine Your Craft

The Professional Ballet Course - 6 Months offers an intensive period of training for dancers who already have strong classical foundations and want to make significant progress within a focused timeframe.

Across two progressive terms, you will strengthen technical consistency, deepen your artistry and gain experience across a broader range of movement and repertoire.

Regular ballet training remains at the heart of the programme, supported by contemporary dance, pointe or men’s technique, partnering, repertoire, conditioning and creative work. As your training develops, greater emphasis is placed on performance, auditions and preparing confidently for your next opportunity.

You should be comfortable working at an advanced level and prepared for the physical and technical demands of regular intensive training.

Admission is by audition, allowing the faculty to assess your current experience, technical foundation and potential to benefit from the programme.

Classical Ballet & Repertoire

Denzil Bailey started to dance aged 17 in a weekly Jazz class in a church hall in Cricklewood. Encouraged by his teacher to take ballet, he joined the London School of Classical Dance. After 3 years, he was chosen to join the internationally prestigious English National Ballet where he danced for 10 years, touring the world.

Develop Strength, Versatility and Artistry

Your weekly training combines advanced classical ballet with complementary disciplines that help you develop as a more adaptable and expressive dancer.

Classical Ballet

Develop greater technical consistency through regular advanced ballet classes focused on placement, coordination, control, musicality and movement quality.

Training draws on recognised classical approaches while encouraging dancers to become adaptable to different teachers and professional environments.

Pointe & Men’s Technique

Specialist sessions allow dancers to develop the specific physical and technical demands associated with their training.

Pointe work focuses on strength, placement, control and confidence, while men’s technique may explore elevation, turns, batterie and dynamic movement.

Pas de Deux & Partnering

Build greater confidence working with a partner through training in timing, coordination, communication and classical partnering technique.

Repertoire

Develop your understanding of style and interpretation by applying your technique to a range of classical, neo-classical and contemporary material.

Repertoire coaching also helps you develop the confidence and adaptability required when learning material for auditions and performance.

Contemporary Dance

Broaden your movement vocabulary and experience different ways of using weight, space, dynamics and musicality.

Contemporary training supports the versatility increasingly expected of professional dancers.

Creative Practice

Improvisation and choreographic exercises give you opportunities to explore movement beyond set vocabulary, develop your creative instincts and become more confident making individual artistic choices.

Develop Confidence Beyond the Barre

Technical development becomes most valuable when you can apply it confidently to choreography, auditions and performance.

Throughout the course, you will work with repertoire and performance material that challenges you to retain choreography, respond to direction and bring greater individuality to your dancing.

Studio sharings, assessments and performance opportunities allow you to experience the demands of presenting work under pressure while continuing to refine your technique and artistry.
