Our Actors Showcase course is ideal if you’re an emerging actor or experienced student and would like to hone your performance skills, push your technique to new heights and kick start your stage career.
Working towards a showcase of scenes from contemporary play-texts, over the course of ten weeks, you will take part in masterclasses in a variety of practitioner techniques.
You will work with a scene partner on a duologue, receiving direction and notes from a professional Theatre Director and tutor.
This acting class culminates in a showcase at a London Fringe venue to a public audience and invited industry professionals.
Actors Showcase course content
Across ten sessions you will work towards a showcase at the Lion and Unicorn Theatre, Kentish Town.
WEEK ONE:
Introduction to the course and warm-up workshop
WEEK TWO:
Stanislavski workshop focussing on text
WEEK THREE:
Take part in a casting workshop with read-throughs and active analysis of the texts
WEEK FOUR:
Line learning exercises based on various practitioner techniques and exploration of the text
WEEK FIVE:
Improvisation on the texts and notes from the Director
WEEK SIX:
In-depth character analysis and development rehearsals
WEEK SEVEN:
Rehearsal focused on in-depth relationship building
WEEK EIGHT:
Focus on stagecraft and refining Director’s notes
WEEK NINE:
Refining blocking and technique with final Director’s notes
WEEK TEN:
Final run-through, tech and dress rehearsals

All City Academy tutors are experienced professionals from theatre, film/TV and performance industries. So whilst they're training you they may also be rehearsing for a West End show or working on a movie. We like that and we do believe it makes a difference in class.
