Aneurin Rees

Aneurin Rees

Aneurin Rees studied guitar and performance at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, before achieving a first class honours degree in music from Oxford Brookes university, where along with studying music performance, composition, and analysis, he was the first student to combine a dissertation from the Music and English departments, connecting poetry and music with the hope of further understanding songwriting and composition.

Aneurin has travelled the UK and worked as a guitarist in a wide variety of genres, most notably: a traditional Ceilidh band, several Funk bands, musical theatre orchestras, and as an acoustic singer/songwriter. He has also worked as an Actor-Musician, most enjoyable as a composer and lead actor/musician for an original take on A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Greenman Festival. Aneurin is currently working on a new songwriting project, and two experimental instrumental group.

As an educator, Aneurin has taught guitar, songwriting, and composition, for decades. He has developed a style of teaching that takes as many perspectives that are needed for an individual student, even when teaching a group. From teaching at schools across London, to running music workshops in prisons, Aneurin has learnt to adapt his teaching style to anyone, regardless of their background or learning type. These attributes along with a broad set of experiences allows Aneurin to be a confident and adaptable tutor.

“The key to teaching is being able to listen. Every student is different and it is up to the teacher to find the most efficient path to progress.”
