Berni trained in Theatre and Performing Arts at the accredited Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance and has honed her craft recording, writing and performing as both a solo artist, backing vocalist and group singer.
Over the last 8 years, she has worked as a vocal mentor, facilitator and director with various theatre companies, coaching students in performance skills and vocal development. She is now Head of Singing at City Academy.
Berni is also a member of the London based group Urban Voices Collective, founded by Karl Willett in 2006. Her credits include BBC Proms with Paloma Faith and Tim Rice, A Life in Song with Andrew Lloyd Webber, Laura Mvula and Roger Daltry (BBC). Berni can also be heard with UVC on Paloma Faith’s album ‘A Perfect Contradiction’.
Emma trained in electronic music and music leadership at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where she honed her skills as a vocalist, songwriter and animateur.
Over the past seven years she has worked as a vocal tutor, workshop leader and performer with various organisations ranging from the Barbican and The Irene Taylor Trust to The Prince’s Trust, focusing on songwriting and performance. She has also spent time touring the UK and Europe with a number of pop artists as a backing vocalist and keyboard player and has been a member of choirs including The REC and Goldsmith’s Vocal Ensemble.
Emma is also currently a member of Urban Voices Collective, and her broadcast and performance credits include the BBC Proms with Paloma Faith, Eska’s English Skies at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, A Night With Diversity (ITV), Random Acts with Ghostpoet and Tawiah (Channel 4), BBC Radio 3’s The Verb.
