Bio

Charlie trained at the Stella Adler Conservatory in New York and has built a varied career across acting, writing and directing in both the UK and internationally. Her performance work ranges from Shakespeare to musical sketch comedy, and she has worked extensively with the long-running political satire show NewsRevue as a performer, director and writer.

As a writer, Charlie works as part of the partnership Baker & Ryall, creating original musicals and adaptations for stage. Their musical Tasting Notes premiered at Southwark Playhouse in 2022, while their one-act adaptation of Heidi received its Off-Broadway premiere in New York in 2025. Other projects include Greenacres and an adaptation of Patrick Hamilton’s Hangover Square.

Charlie brings this broad experience into her teaching, combining elements of Adler technique and the Stanislavski system with an encouraging, playful approach. She adapts her methods to the needs of each class, helping students explore everything from Shakespeare and comedy performance to writing librettos and developing original material, all with supportive guidance and plenty of room for creativity.
