Bio

Jack Kinsman is an architectural designer and practicing artist specialising in drawing. He holds an MFA from the Slade School of Fine Art and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture. His background in architectural design strongly informs his artistic practice, using spatial thinking to explore human interaction with urban environments.

Jack believes in mastering and understanding the fundamentals so that you can push them to their limits. He believes in learning through doing and is keen to get students making work all throughout a session as a way of questioning and discovering their own personal creative process and interest.

While Jack is keen to have students push their own discovery and develop their creative decision making, all sessions will involve guided exercises that investigate new techniques and diverse perspectives to producing work.

Each week we will explore a new lesson objective, giving you a rounded understanding of the fundamental facets of the artistic medium we are working with.

I hope you will walk away from each session and each course with a new perspective and approach to making art, giving you the tools to develop your skills and art outside of the classroom.

As an interdisciplinary artist himself, Jack is a strong advocate for embracing the wealth of backgrounds and experiences you will bring to your own artworks and is excited to explore the unique ways you will tell your very own stories. Keep drawing.
