Andrei (they/he) is a Romanian dance artist currently based in London. They have trained in Ballroom and Latin styles since the age of 6, competing in National and International competitions in both Europe and UK. At the end his proffesional training, he performed Bari choreographed by Sir Richard Alston and performed at Sadlers Wells and The Place Theatre as part of Aston at Home Final Eddition. They later joined MapDance Company, touring new contemporary dance works by James Cousins, Sarah Golding, and Keira Martin.
In 2022 they collaborated with Corina Andrian (RED-COR), in the making of SEED a short dance film, exploring a series of events inspired by the secret life of gay elites during communist Romania. We glimpse into the emotional journey of a queer person as they grow up in a society where ‘coming out’ would bring you your doom. Recently, Andrei started acting with Flute Theatre performing Wiliiam Shakespeare’s plays of Tempest and Pericles, as part of UK and European Tour 2022/2023.
Andrei has been teaching in London since 2018 and has performed works by Edifice Dance Theatre, Leila McMillan, Richard Alston, Leah Marojevic , Simone Mousset, Rob Clarke.
“We’ll focus on developing an interest in movement and learning to celebrate dance. The joy of moving with others in the same space is something I strongly advocate for. We are also just happening to be learning technical exercises, that may be frustrating at times… but dancing is great, so we carry on!”
